Magical Imaginings (Skill Build)

Magical Imaginings (Skill Build)

Led by Poet and Teaching Artist, Andrés González-Bonillas, this free, virtual workshop will use sound, meditation, and study of form to provide a framework for facilitating explorations of magical realism and speculative creative writing projects. These genres are rich with radical visions of our own world and the worlds we can create, they challenge our notions of plot and story while also inviting us to question form and to take part in a global literary tradition. Join us on zoom on Saturday, November 2nd!

Andrés González-Bonillas, Dance Artist and Teaching Artist

Andrés González-Bonillas (he/they) is a Philly-based Chicano poet, photographer, and teaching artist from Arizona. Their pedagogy is informed by restorative practices, abolitionist approaches to learning, and centering joy in the things we create. They love to write magical realist projects including short stories and comics. They’re working on a few projects, including chapbooks of poetry, photography, and a longer collection of poems called Hector’s Interdimensional Library. Andrés is also a Teaching Artist for ArtWell.

ArtWell Skill Builds

Skill Builds are a monthly workshop dedicated to sharing a human-centered and creative approach to community work. On the first Saturday of every month, ArtWell hosts a guest facilitator to teach on a range of topics from creating multiple entry points to activities, identifying maltreatment of youth, event planning, giving and receiving feedback, and more. Regardless of vocation, career focus, or level of experience, ArtWell welcomes all who seek to be a part of a learning community.

We hope to see you at the ArtWell office on Saturday, November 2nd! RSVP at the link below.
