Amy Weaver
Amy Weaver is a strategic leader with a rich background spanning strategic planning and implementation, brand development and marketing, strategic and crisis communications, recruitment and event planning. Currently serving as Vice Provost of Academic Strategy and Communications at Drexel University, she plays a critical role in advancing the University’s academic mission and reputation, as well as providing strategic communications and operational leadership for major University initiatives.
Prior to her current position, Amy led dynamic communications, marketing and creative teams for the LeBow College of Business, Goodwin College of Professional Studies, and College of Arts and Sciences. She enjoys helping organizations articulate their vision, devise effective strategies, and build high-performing, collaborative teams. Notably, she served as creative director and editor of Ask magazine, an award-winning publication of Drexel’s College of Arts & Sciences recognized for content, design and photography with accolades from the Philly ADDY Awards; CASE Circle of Excellence Awards, and the UCDA Design Awards, among others.
Amy holds a Bachelor’s in English and Master’s in Communication. As a middle and high school student, she was fortunate to have teachers who appreciated and nourished her love of poetry and art. She continued to pursue both through college and beyond, publishing poetry in school ‘zines and serving on the editorial staff of the independent literary magazine Painted
Bride Quarterly. She has also provided pro bono communications consulting for environmental nonprofit Urban Tree Connection, and currently serves in a communications and marketing advisory capacity to a Philadelphia-based youth soccer club.
Amy lives in Philadelphia with her husband and two children. She was introduced to ArtWell through the Compass OnBoard program and was inspired immediately by the mission and passion of the organization to improve the lives of Philadelphia youth through poetry and art.
