Comedian Jonathan Katz, writer and actor behind animated cult favorite Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist.

Jonathan Katz was born in 1946, the son of a blogger and a podcaster. In 1978 Katz finally found the courage to get on stage in front of a live audience. Initially it was music that got him there. He fronted a five piece band called “Katz and Jammers.” “On a good night we would make five hundred dollars. We never had a good night” claims Katz. But soon he made the transition to comedy. Years later he was introduced to animation by his friend and collaborator Tom Snyder. They have continued to create things together, the best known, a TV show called Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist. A show about an ineffectual shrink, his stay at home son, his feisty receptionist, and featuring his patients who were comedians.

“See that’s where you’re wrong, me paying attention is precisely what you don’t need.”
